Tweak Me!

There are many ways of making a slow computer work faster. Disabling high quality visuals, like the Aero effect in Windows 7 and Vista or shutting down non-critical systems is just a start. Tweak Me! gives you access to countless system tweaks, as the name points out, as well as a wide variety of tools, which can give your computer a performance boost. The application's controls are very easy to figure out and the available tweaks are carefully explained, so you won't risk damaging your system.

Tweak Me! is offered free of charge, with no hidden fees or restrictions, but you can make a donation if you find the application useful and want to support future developments. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8. You can install the application on your computer in less than a minute and you can launch it right away, without installing any additional tools or services.

Besides system tweaks, the user interface displays options for removing temporary and junk data, disabling startup programs and deactivating context menu items. The available tweaks are neatly organized in a tree structure, based on which part of the system they affect. For example, the Action-Center category includes options for disabling specific notification types, in the system tray or disabling all tray notifications. You can also find advanced tweaks, like disabling program compatibility verifications, various non-essential features of the security system and more.

All tweaks can be activated just by clicking their check boxes. Additionally, they are all color coded, to help you figure out which ones affect sensible parts of the system. For additional information, you can select a tweak, to display a short description, on the right side of the interface.

Other tools, for cleaning up the hard drive, disabling startup programs and so on, can be found on the same interface, but in different sections, which can be accessed via navigation buttons. The built-in cleaner displays a long list of components which leave temporary data behind. You just need to select them and hit a Clean button, to remove their junk files. The same can be done with startup programs or context menu items. If you wish to disable them, you just need to click their check boxes.

Advanced tools can be displayed on the same window, after selecting certain options from a menu, in the upper left corner of the interface. You can use these tools to scan system files and ensure their validity, defragment boot files and much more.
